Many stores have been around for several generations already that were once started from families that are into vintage materials and items. They were generally collectors who found a potential profit from their hobby and later turned them into businesses. Some went on with their business successfully and some was not able to make it.

Majority of these buyers are looking for vintage and antique items. For a particular item to be considered as one, the object has to be more than 100 years old. Make some background research about the stuff that you are planning to sell first. Know the history of the item, who and when was it manufactured or crafted. It will give you an idea or enough knowledge about how much you can sell it for.

There are products that contain identifying marks on them that was done by the creator or the manufacturer. A great illustration would be chinaware. At the bottom of, say, a dish will have a back stamp that contains information of like the brand of a certain item. Afterwards, you can then look the details up for you to be aware of the background or if it something worthy to be sold or bought at a certain amount.

A number of products have marks that have been quite altered due to the passing of time. Looking for those can be of great help for it will help you know when it was manufactured or produced. Some furniture will illustrate identifying marks as well.

In looking for a buyer to sell your collectibles to, putting a value on your item is advisable rather than having the person put it for you. You can talk to a trusted dealer or you may ask for referrals from friends who can recommend a trusted dealer who knows the value of what you are selling. You can also sell them online through eBay, but, you may have to be cautious and well aware of the customers trying to purchase your product since the transaction is made virtually.
