How To Maximize Electroless Nickel Coating Performance

EN coating is a process done to produce nickel phosphorous coating which can be use for the enhancement of corrosion, resistance to wear, and to increase the hardness of the surface even. Electroless nickel coating MI is used by many because it does not require an electric current unlike others.

You see, there are many advantages that you can get out of this such as being able to coat it uniformly and being flexible in controlling your coat to achieve the right thickness. You see, such process is a bit complex so you have to be precise with in doing your actions and must execute the steps properly. Below are your guide in enhancing the performance of electroless nickel coating.

First, be prepared. That means the parts and all the other things needed for the operation must be within reach and ready. This includes chemically pretreated, make sure that you rinsed it thoroughly with warm water afterward. The last step would be mechanical finishing, this will condition the surface.

Second, purify the water. The water is an essential part of the operation. You cannot avoid the fact there is chance that the water will contain some foreign matters. With this, you need to purify it first before you can start using it. Do this in advance as the process can be too long at times which is a bother.

Know what kind of tank would you need. Tanks could make a problem when you are not using the right one. What you are going to put on it is the EN bath and not every tank can handle it. There are only two options, use a tank that is made up of stainless steel or polypropylene. They have two uses, to prevent plate is for polypropylene and stainless steel on the other hand last longer.

Four, you have to constantly filter it. Constantly filtering the bath is necessary so that insoluble materials will be removed. Those material could roughen the substrate that is why you really have to do this. It is recommended that you do the filtering at least 4 times per hour every turnover. Continuously filter and surely there will not be at least one impurity you will find.

Five, control the temperature. You have to monitor the temperature of the plating bath all throughout the whole process. That is because, when the temperature is too high, decomposition could speed up and if it is the opposite, the process will go beyond the accepted level which might prevent coating deposition from happening.

Sixth, continuously test the solution. The chemicals you are going to add on it should be balanced for it to become effective. A tip would be to add a little amount first so that you will not put too much. When it is not the right amount yet, keep on adding until you got it right. This is the trick you need to know.

Seventh, do some post treatment. Stain and harmful conditions are two of the things that will happen if you do not implement post treatment. Harmful conditions can be eliminated by simply baking the plating. This step needs to be done and should not be skipped. Do all these and everything will be okay.
